As promised, I’ve written a blog about the best parts of NZ. Actually, I use that term “written a blog very loosely”…I’ve compiled a list of some of my favourite things about my home country. You can interpret these as you choose – in a strange turn of events I haven’t elaborated on any of them. The most elaboration you’ll get is in this first paragraph. You see, I started to write this post a few days ago but I wasn’t happy enough with it to publish it – it seemed a little “show-offy” to me. I was busy going on about all these things that made NZ better than other countries, rather than my original intention of saying positive things about Aotearoa. So, without further ado, here is the list of *positive* things that I love about NZ:

  1. Family

  2. Friends

  3. Childhood memories

  4. More memories

  5. Pineapple lumps

  6. BBQs

  7. Gumboots

  8. Jandals

  9. Barefeet

  10. Camping

  11. Beaches. So many beaches

  12. Baches

  13. Agriculture

  14. Pasture-based farming

  15. Horses. So many horses

  16. Sir Edmund Hillary

  17. Jenny Shipley (think about this one)

  18. Marlborough Sounds

  19. Lord of the Rings

  20. The Hobbit

  21. Our reputation overseas

  22. Fish and Chips

  23. All Blacks

  24. Two degrees of separation

  25. Hamish Bond & Eric Murray

  26. Pride. So much pride

  27. Pavlova

  28. Coruba Rum

  29. “She’ll be right”

  30. Kiwi ingenuity

  31. The haka

  32. Silver Ferns

  33. Summer Christmas

  34. Boxing Day leftovers

  35. Bungy jumping

  36. It’s home.

So that’s a small, random snapshot into what I love about NZ. I could go on all day, but I’m going to leave it there.

New Zealand is not a small country, but a large village.” – Peter Jackson

That’s all for now,

Jordyn x
